After an accident, Gentleman was accepted into the Gibralter Point Residency on Toronto Island. Unable to walk, she spent time in the library there and became fascinated by images of Edwardian women in their white dresses: early residents who had cottages and then houses there. In these diptychs Gentleman imagined these woman, (some happier than others) and juxtaposed them with the beautiful flowers that surrounded her on the island.
