About Flick the Switch

An art incubator and artists' collective in the heart of Toronto's Queen West, where over 50 artists create, collaborate, and share their work with the world.

Our Story

Founded in 2017 by award-winning artist Susan N. Stewart, Flick the Switch began with a simple dream: to build a community where artists could thrive and art lovers could experience the "AHA" moment of connecting deeply with creativity.

What started as a single studio space has grown into a vibrant collective of over 50 artists working across two Queen West locations. From painters and sculptors to writers and textile artists, Flick the Switch is home to some of Toronto's most exciting emerging and established talent.

Art Shop

Our online gallery showcases original work from featured collective artists. Every piece comes directly from the artists' studios.

Open Studios & Events

We regularly open our doors for open studio events, art markets, and exhibitions. Step inside real working studios and meet the artists.

The Grange

34 Stephanie Street, Toronto

Nestled behind the AGO and OCAD University, our Grange location is a serene haven in a historic building with original wood floors, exposed beams, and antique fireplaces. The studios overlook Grange Park and a flourishing courtyard.

Parkdale

Queen West, Toronto

Located in Toronto's eclectic Parkdale neighbourhood, surrounded by the Milky Way Garden and Hope Garden. Close to Queen Street West's galleries, vintage boutiques, The Drake Hotel, The Gladstone, and the lakefront.

Susan N. Stewart - Founder

Our Founder

Susan N. Stewart is an award-winning Canadian artist whose work hangs in private and corporate collections in New York, Paris, London, Tokyo, Melbourne, Bermuda, and Germany.

"I am in love with the face and the poetry of oil paint. Colour makes my heart beat faster."

Her dream for Flick the Switch is to connect art lovers with dynamic artists and their creations — helping collectors discover the rising stars shaping Toronto's art scene.
